Originally only available in Japan on the Wii, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse follows in the footsteps of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, which had been a Wii U exclusive until its re-release to current-gen consoles and PC last year. While the remaster of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water received middling reviews, there is considerably more hype for Mask of the Lunar Eclipse due to its previous exclusion from the West.

Japanese site Gamecity has details on the contents of the premium box, as well as digital deluxe editions and upgrades. The premium box will only be available for Nintendo Switch and includes memoirs that refer to events before the game, as well as other world building, perfect for those who are into Fatal Frame lore. Other additions to the box are an original soundtrack CD and two plastic files with in-game characters on them. This box will cost around $91 USD and includes a physical copy of the game for Switch, but fans will also be able to buy the premium box with no game for around $43 USD. The site also lists the price of the standalone game at around $48 for Switch and PS4, meaning that the total price will be the same to buy them separately.
While Gamecity is not selling them directly, there is also information about the digital deluxe editions along with instructions to check the relevant storefront. The digital deluxe editions are set to include seven additional costumes, six accessories, and a digital art book with the soundtrack. These additional items are in line with the pre-order bonuses for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty that were also recently revealed by Koei Tecmo.
March 2023 is going to be a big month for horror game fans, partly due to the release of Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. March will also be big for Koei Tecmo as that’s when both Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and the Team Ninja developed Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty are planned to release. Hype is building for both titles, and the extra interest gained from these pre-order bonuses and premium boxes should help Koei Tecmo.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse launches on March 9, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
